What’s a memory?
It’s not a picture. It’s not a blog posting. It’s not a social media chain. It’s not a physical thing. All those things can evoke a memory, but they are not memories.
A memory is an experience!
An experience you can recount in the near or distant future when friends, or future friends, ask you about how you met your wife. Or when you are narrating for your wife your recollection of when and why you first fell in love with her and the moment you “just knew“. A memory is the moment you asked your wife to marry you, and she said “yes“. A memory is you trying to convey all the love and feelings you have for your wife when your child asks, “why did you marry Mommy“.
A memory is when your own Mama sews your future wife’s wedding dress with assistance from your future Mom-in-law, Aunt-in-law and wife. And when, to make said dress, your future wife opts to re-purpose her Mom’s wedding dress, which was handmade by her own Mom? Well, that’s just something special.
A memory, I tell you, is made when you’re standing at the altar, and for the first time, you see your beautiful future wife walk down the aisle in the wedding dress that 5 phenomenal women worked hard to make.
THAT is a memory that will be cherished and shared.
I haven’t seen my Sunshine in her future wedding dress and I don’t plan to until November 25, 2017, but I sure hope the pictures above (along with many others I’m not allowed to see yet) will evoke all the memories we’ve made during this dress making!
Love you Sunshine!
